EXPERIENCE & ADVOCACY

A child advocate since the late 90’s, Dr. Roseman demonstrates the needs for collaborations in improving child outcomes for parents. In 2010, he created the Toby Center for Family Transitions based in Delray Beach, Florida, which is a major provider of supervised visitation services and reunification therapy. The Center design is to provide holistic clinical treatment, non-clinical child access services and co-parenting education to improve child outcomes when parents separate.

A prolific writer and speaker, Dr. Roseman advocates the research showing that child outcomes are most positive and long-lasting when parents fight less, use mediation methods for child custody and visitation solutions, and hire counsel who can best appreciate what is truly a child’s best interests and not necessarily the interests of the litigants. He served as the Assistant Director for Child Access, the Children’s Rights Council (CRC), Washington, DC (1998-2011) where he worked with his mentor, David L. Levy, Esq., CRC co-founder known by many as the “King of Joint Custody”.

Dr. Roseman is a researcher and lecturer in the field of high conflict divorce and shared parenting, and is the author of the book, Preserving Family Ties, An Authoritative Guide to Understanding Divorce and Child Custody (WestBow Press, 2018, www.preservingfamilyties.com) which brings to the fore the important research demonstrating how child outcomes are maximized when two loving parents remain involved in the child’s life.

To effectively seek improved parent-child relations and child custody decisions, then it is reasonable to seek a reduction of social and personal stress. Dr. Roseman has found different modalities to be most effective in ameliorating these difficulties. Most importantly, they are support groups, and personal life coaching.

Today, Dr. Roseman serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the American Journal of Family Therapy, is a member of the AFCC, and holds Certification as a Family Life Educator (CFLE). He is the Publisher of Contemporary Family, the new international online quarterly magazine providing research and opinion on parenting from around the globe. He has served as a columnist with Knight Ridder Tribune Syndicate and as a contributor to the Huffington Post Online. A father of three, Dr. Roseman earned his doctorate in Family Studies from the Union Institute’s University with a specialty in therapeutic interventions for high conflict divorce and shared parenting issues accompanying parental separation and divorce. He enjoys using humor in his public speaking and client consultations. He believes if it takes less energy to laugh, and it helps, then, “why not!” It couldn’t hurt!

Dr. Roseman and the MDR Associates team bring years of personal and professional experience to address the many needs of children and parents in family transition.
